Nằm cách Hue City 30km về phía bắc, Alba Wellness Resort do D&P Associates thiết kế từ năm 2018 đã khéo léo kết hợp truyền thống nguồn nước nóng cổ đại với phong cách chăm sóc sức khỏe hiện đại.
Đất Nước Và Quy Hoạch Không Gian
Alba Wellness Resort được đặt tại một thung lũng bị các con sông vòm tạo nên dưới dãy núi Truong Son, nơi có nguồn nước nóng tự nhiên xuất hiện ít nhất từ năm 1928. Vị trí này không chỉ mang tính lịch sử mà còn là yếu tố quyết định cho quy hoạch kiến trúc của D&P Associates.
Quy hoạch tổng thể của dự án xuất phát từ lịch sử thủy văn độc đáo này. D&P Associates đặt trung tâm khu tắm nước nóng (onsen) ở vị trí tuyệt đối giữa khu đất, trở thành điểm nhấn chính phản ánh dòng chảy tự nhiên của nước trên mặt bằng thung lũng. Các không gian phụ trợ như nhà hàng, quán bar, trung tâm yoga, bể bơi, nông trại Alba và làng thủ công được bố trí theo các "phía cánh" tỏa ra từ khu tắm trung tâm này. Cách sắp xếp này tạo nên một chuỗi di chuyển cho khách hàng qua các vùng không gian môi trường khác nhau nhưng vẫn duy trì liên kết thị giác với nguồn nước nóng chính.
Điểm đặc biệt của thiết kế là cách kiến trúc hòa hợp với những đường cong tự nhiên thung lũng thay vì xâm phạm chúng. Việc bao quanh khu tắm nước nóng bằng hệ thống đồi núi nhỏ giúp đảm bảo các yếu tố nước luôn được nhìn thấy và tích hợp vào trải nghiệm khách hàng.

Triết lý thiết kế nội thất của Alba Wellness Resort xoay quanh năm phần tự nhiên – Đất, Nước, Kim Cương, Lửa và Mộc – được chuyển hóa thành các lựa chọn vật liệu cụ thể và trải nghiệm không gian.
Quy trình tắm nước nóng được thiết kế thành một hành trình cảm giác, nơi mỗi chuyển tiếp mang lại góc nhìn thay đổi theo từng khu vực địa hình.
Khu tắm nước nóng chính là đỉnh cao của sự hòa hợp cảm giác này. Được thiết kế cùng kiến trúc sư Nhật Bản để mang lại trải nghiệm "thực thụ" của onsen truyền thống, khu vực này kết hợp các yếu tố như sàn đá được đun nóng và dòng nước tự nhiên chảy theo hệ thống địa nhiệt, đồng thời điều chỉnh phù hợp với khí hậu và văn hóa Việt Nam. Hệ thống đồi núi nhỏ xung quanh sử dụng đá và gỗ địa phương giúp duy trì nhiệt độ thoải mái trong mùa hè mà không cần hệ thống làm lạnh nhân tạo.
Các lựa chọn vật liệu còn là lời nói chia sẻ trực tiếp với truyền thống thủ công Hue cổ đại. Vải dệt và cấu trúc tre phản ánh kỹ thuật dệt vải địa phương, trong khi các yếu tố đá lại gợi lên cách xây dựng chùa temple thời xưa.

Nestled within a valley carved by rivers under the Truong Son Mountains, Alba Wellness Resort occupies land historically significant for its naturally occurring hot springs. This site, where water has surfaced since at least 1928, forms the foundational narrative for D&P Associates' design approach. The resort's strategic placement 30km north of Hue City places it within a tranquil landscape cradled by tropical forest and seasonal streams, deeply embedded in local Hue traditions.
Geological Genesis and Spatial Strategy
The resort's master plan emerges directly from this unique hydrological history, transforming the site’s ancient spring origins into a functional architectural narrative. D&P Associates positioned the onsen spa at the absolute center of the property, creating a deliberate focal point that responds to the natural flow of water across the valley floor. This central placement ensures the hot springs' thermal energy is harnessed without disrupting the existing topography or hydrological pathways. The surrounding facilities – including the restaurant, bar, yoga center, swimming pool, Alba farm, and craft village – are arranged in distinct "wings" that radiate outward from this core onsen space.
The design actively engages with the valley’s natural contours rather than imposing upon them. By wrapping the onsen spa within its own terraced landscape, D&P Associates ensures that water features remain visible and integral throughout the guest experience. This approach prevents the resort from becoming a disconnected cluster of buildings but instead creates a cohesive relationship between architecture and the land's hydrological system.
The master plan also acknowledges the historical significance of this location as a natural hot spring discovery point since 1928. The resort’s interior design philosophy revolves around the five natural elements – Fire, Earth, Metal, Water, and Wood – each translated into specific material choices and spatial experiences. D&P Associates selected regional wood, bamboo, palm, stone, and textiles to create a palette that celebrates local resources while maintaining functional integrity within the wellness context.
Guests progress through distinct bathing stages where each transition offers evolving perspectives across the changing landscape. The architectural sequence is meticulously calibrated so that as users move from one treatment area to another, they encounter progressively different views of the valley – a direct response to the site's topography and hydrological features.
The onsen itself represents the pinnacle of this sensory integration. Designed in collaboration with a Japanese architect to deliver a "true Japanese onsen experience," it incorporates traditional elements like heated stone floors and natural thermal water flow while adapting to Vietnam’s climate and cultural context. The surrounding terraced landscape uses local stone and wood to create subtle thermal regulation, ensuring comfort during the tropical season without relying on artificial cooling systems.
The resort's material choices also serve as a direct dialogue with Hue’s historical craftsmanship traditions. Textiles and bamboo structures reflect regional weaving techniques, while stone elements echo ancient temple construction methods. This fusion creates spaces that feel both contemporary and deeply rooted in place – avoiding the trap of purely aesthetic or imported materials.
